I first studied Hypnotherapy in 2008, going on to study under Trevor Silvester at the famous Quest Institute, qualifying with Distinction, as a Quest Cognitive Hypnotherapist and with further training, achieving the qualification of Master Practitioner in NLP. 

Having practised a more traditional form of hypnotherapy first, I soon realised how much more effective Quest Cognitive Hypnotherapy is.

Our approach is significantly different from the traditional schools of hypnotherapy. We draw on recent discoveries and ideas from Evolutionary Psychology, Positive Psychology, Cognitive theory and NLP and incorporate them into a modern idea of hypnosis to provide a framework for therapy. We do not advocate one single approach as the answer to all life's problems. Quest Cognitive Hypnotherapy uses a range of techniques drawn from different disciplines that have been found to be the most effective tools for change so far. These are moulded into an approach tailored for the specific needs of each person.

Our belief is that a Trance is a mind-state that we all enter naturally throughout the day, on a daily basis and there are many of them; eg. Who hasn't lost themselves in their thoughts on the drive to work, or missed what your partner or boss was saying to you, because your mind was somewhere else. These are examples of what we call a trance state.

We believe that when someone is experiencing their problem they are in their 'Problem Trance' and our role is to help them to come out of it, whether it's a 'Fear of Spider trance' or 'Anxiety trance' and behave in the way they would prefer to.

As a Quest Cognitive Hypnotherapist we utilise these natural trance states to help a person to change, from their particular problem state, to their solution state, ie how they would like to be, in the shortest possible time.

Each person's problem pattern is formed uniquely, even if the name given to it is shared by many. Consequently each person will require a different balance of therapy and techniques, connected together by a pattern of suggestion based on the individual's way of thinking. We call this Wordweaving and each one is individual and tailored to the client.

Quest Cognitive Hypnotherapy is a therapy where we work together and my role is to guide you, towards finding your own solution to your problem. I will not have any control over you or dictate what is best for you. The answer to your problem comes from within you and we will work together to find your solution.

Hypnotherapy isn't the therapist doing the work for the patient but the therapist guiding the patient to make changes within their unconscious (subconscious) mind.  The patient has to want to make changes and must work hard by performing any tasks given to them.

'Hypnoses does not work miracles. It is a sincere, honest, earnest discipline of learning and effort and anything that is accomplished depends upon work and attention that is given to the task at hand'.

How many session will I need ?

The Quest Hypnotherapy method follows the principle of Brief Therapy. I will help you to resolve the issue that is troubling you in the shortest time possible, whilst still adhering to exceptionally high standards. This will help to keep costs down for you and significantly increase the chance that you can sustain any changes you make without becoming dependent on ongoing or long term treatment.

I do not ask you to sign up for a certain number of sessions from the beginning but to commit yourself to the therapy . Then you can book them session by session until we feel that you have resolved the issues, or that you are ready to deal with things on your own. An average number of sessions for most problems are between three and six.
